It seems I have frequent urination problems only around my girlfriend. it is so strange. what can I do? A lot of it is stress related i think and anxiety over whether or not she is cheating. My prostate is healthy of course, and there is no other explanation. One doctor told me if she is cheating on me, the scent or pheramones of the other male may linger and be present with her causing me to sense the existence of the other male, causing both frequent urination or other psychological effects. If there is no other male present she could be very hormonal herself, menopause, pre-menopause, or I need psychiatric help. My question is, do humans react the same way to the scent of other males as animals do. Do we become more anxious, hypertensive and territorial -like with all the urination thing- seems crazy to me…

first off what ever doctor told you that crock of a story you do not need to go back to him. secondly your frequent urination could be most likely medically speaking, you could have a urinary track infection that you only seem to notice when you are with her and are associating your feelings of anixiety to that situation. however in any case i would seek a physician to get a order to have a urine test performed to rule out and infection, its not your prostate. and the only other likely item would be situational anxiety which would explain the frequent urination with her.

Prostate problems that cause straining to urinate (every time) and that causes him to sweat from pushing so hard) and frequent urination. He has all the symptoms of it. Stones have been ruled out as well as any type of infection. Thanks for any help.

Yes he will be going to the doctor next week. I just wanted to see what I could find out on here to ease his mind a little.

Anything is possible. But a trip to the urologist will be his best bet to figure it out.

Rectal exam during pelvic?

My mom made me an appointment with her male doctor for a full exam, she explained in detail what would happen and she said that the last part of the exam is a digital rectal exam.

After reading a bunch of answers on here my question is should I refuse that part or since it is a normal part of the exam should I let him do it?
I am 22 and have had a pelvic exam before but, I had never been offered or even heard of a rectal exam until my mom told me about it.

Honestly, I work at an OB/GYN office and our doctors don’t do rectal exams unless you have a problem in that area that you need checked out. You doc will do a bimanual exam, where he will insert a finger into your vagina while pressing down on your abdomen. This is done to check the size and shape of your uterus and ovaries.

If the office you go to does do rectal exams normally, you do have every right to refuse that part of the exam. You don’t say how old you are, but young women usually don’t need a rectal exam as rectal problems are more common in older women.

none, unless you are having problems. meds that shrink the prostate contain estrogens, which have other issues in a male body. yes, they shrink the prostate, but can also cause sexual problems or developing breast tissue. doctors only use them in cases where the enlarged gland is obstructing urine flow or causing pain. also, dont assume BPH if it isnt a doctor saying that. you can’t diagnose yourself safely. dont assume it is one thing or another, because the same symptoms can be prostate cancer or other issues.
